John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit by his popular-folk hits Many of them were inspired by Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for many to visit Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared it was because John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is now the embodiment of the state to everyone around the world. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other part of the globe, or someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first word that comes they say is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit following a performance with a small folk music bands. The song was written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver realized from the first time he heard early versions that the song could be a huge popular. The singer recorded the song just a few days later after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans at Washington D.C.
